Multinational organisation Gen.G esports has received an undisclosed investment from Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator.

Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator is an early-stage venture capital fund based in New York, USA.

Founded in 2011, Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator invests at the early stages of startup tech companies.

Gen.G rebranded from KSV eSports (representing a combination of Korea and Silicon Valley) in 2018, following its expansion from the Overwatch League into numerous the likes of League of Legends and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.

Chris Park, former Senior Vice President of Growth Strategy and International at Major League Baseball, joined Gen.G as its CEO in December 2018. Since then, it has joined forces with a number of reputable companies across numerous industries and raised $46 million (£35 million) with contributions from actor Will Smith and Japanese soccer player Keisuke Honda’s Dreamers Fund.

In 2019, the organisation has established partnerships with the University of Kentucky, NBA 2K League, LA Fitness & Simple Habit, BumbleElite Open School, and Samsung Electronics.

Esports Insider says: Gen.G has continually found avenues of growth within the US, pushing forward with its gaming program built in partnership with the University of Kentucky and being the first international franchise to join the NBA 2K League. This investment lets it continue to expand across North America and gain access to potentially-lucrative esport startups in the East Coast’s grassroots tech scene.
